Issue #34296: Bandit boss not named Breurid during Infiltration quest
Apparently one of the two bandit bosses was supposed to be named Breurid during Infiltration (dunTrevasWatchQST). [screenshot1] [screenshot2]
This is based on game data and the player's conversation with Stalleo. This may be too hard to implement, given that you would likely have to create a new bandit boss actor reference to only appear when the quest is active. The FormID of the dungeon boss is 00047970 and that doesn't change regardless of whether the quest is running or not. There is another bandit boss (00047954) in the dungeon, but he isn't specifically marked as a boss in the location record (TrevasWatchLocation). |
Wouldn't this be sufficient to fix that? Just have the alias set the name and clear it when the quest ends,

That does work, though apparently not on an existing game where you've been anywhere near Treva's Watch already. Approaching Stalleo's camp seemingly advances the quest stage from 0 to 1 and fills the aliases. From looking through my saves, that happened early on. I expect in most cases it would be a non-retroactive fix, unless there's some way to use a script to make it retroactive. That probably isn't a high priority, though, especially for such a minor issue.
Something else I thought of is that there's a random possibility that Brurid may be a female bandit boss based on the template that is used. It likely doesn't matter though since Stalleo never specifically mentions in any of his dialogue whether Brurid is male or female.

There is apparently one line where Stalleo specifically called Brurid “he”.
"He's a rogue mage who defected at the beginning of the war. I turned him in... but apparently he escaped... and now this."
There's another problem: he's a mage according to that dialogue line (which is used in the game). It seems as though you may have to create a unique actor after all, unless there's another template that could be used. I don't see a bandit boss template that is a magic user.

Could just be that he's not using magic anymore now that he's a bandit.
Yeah, that assumption works for me. Since the developers didn't make him a magic user, there's no need to make it unnecessarily complicated and try to change that. Your fix handles the issue just fine.
