Issue #12984: Adding brown gloves for mages

Gloves are the only non-armor piece for the hands slot that can be worn while benefitting from the Mage Armor perk. However, the regular brown gloves clip terribly with all Mages Guild robes. Would it be possible to fix this? (USKP#32.11)

USKP#32.40 Lorelai: If you tighten them, because they are quite low-poly, you would have to be quite drastic about it - and they would look horrible when worn with the farm clothes or anything else where the whole mesh is shown. If you try and make them larger as to cover the sleeve, you would still have to pull the mesh quite a lot, especially because the robes' sleeve is splayed. Maybe something can be done with partitions, but that would mean putting "forearms" partition on them and that could cause issues with other outfits.

I don't see what can really be done other than making some brand new gloves just for the Mage outfits. And I have a feeling Arthmoor won't see this as belonging in USKP. If he does, I can make a pair of gloves that will fit the sleeves.

Arthmoor has approved adding a new set of gloves for this.

I have to strongly disagree with adding a completely new set of gloves via the USKP. This is not a bug.

Your objection is noted, but this qualifies as a bug since it clips with all known outfits and the only viable solution is to create a new set.

Granted, creating a "new" of anything is outside the norm, especially with meshes, but it's not without precedent, and is only done when there's no other solution.

OK then. I'll make some new gloves for the robes. For bug-fixing sake, I'll just make them the same as the farm gloves; unless anyone has other suggestions.

For what is worth, my main concern will be compatibility with the mage robes (obviously :P ) so no "oh mai, they don't work with outfit x!" Though knowing how OC I am, I'll try and do that (at least the Vanilla ones).

To differentiate them from the regular gloves and to imply their intended use, could they be named Mage Gloves or Mage's Gloves?

That would be my guess too, but it's up to Arthmoor how to handle the actual CK work, I'll just provide the meshes.

Naming them is the easy part - Mage's Gloves works for me :P

Fixed for USKP 2.0 (let the wailing of the fix purists begin)

To facilitate making them available to the player, they are now added to LItemClothesAll, Enthir will sell them at the College, and there are 4 loose pairs available. 2 in the Hall of Attainment, 2 in the Hall of Countenance. They will use the same ground model as farmer's gloves.
