Issue #20189: The Carlisle typewriter, Giddyup Buttercup toy parts, and Prevent items float in the air when droppe

The Carlisle typewriter, Giddyup Buttercup toy parts, and Prevent items float in the air when dropped from the player's inventory, or added to the game world through other means.

The Carlisle typewriter is a junk misc item found in several locations around the Commonwealth, and has no restrictions on the player's ability to drop it from their inventory. Doing so will cause it to hang in the air. The player is able to collide with it, and even stand on it as it floats. This glitch is caused by information in its bhkPhysicsSystem data inside its model. A fix is to copy the bhkPhysicsSystem data from the traditional typewriter model to the Carlisle typewriter, which restores physics to the object. The shape of the objects are identical, so the fix functions perfectly.

Giddyup Buttercup toy parts is a misc quest item found in the Wilson Atomatoys factory, behind a locked door. It is involved in a miscellaneous quest issued by ghoul Arlen Glass in The Slog who asks the player to retrieve the item from the factory and give it to him. Normally, this item is locked and is unable to be dropped by the player. However, it is possible for the item to be unflagged as a quest item if the player receives the quest and Glass dies before the item can be delivered. This will allow the player to drop the item, which will float in the air in a similar way to the Carlisle typewriter. A fix is to copy the bhkPhysicsSystem data from an object of similar dimensions, such as the Kitchen scale, and copying them into the toy parts. This fix, however, isn't perfect as the dimensions of the two objects don't align perfectly, so it may not be up the the standards of the Unofficial Patch Project Team. <span style="display: none;">

Prevent is a misc quest item much like the Giddyup Buttercup toy parts. If it is untagged as a quest item, much like the other two items, it will float. I am currently unaware of any natural conditions that cause this to be the case (other than picking up the item from the QAsmoke room) but it should perhaps be worth noting. The fix for this would be the same as the above, coping the bhkPhysicsSystem data from an other model (such as from a generic Sensor) over the Prevents. This would mostly be cautionary rather than necessary.

It is necessary at this time to copy bhkPhysicsSystem data from one model to an other in the ways stated above because currently NIF exporting programs cannot create new collision meshes, and the bhkPhysicsSystem data itself cannot be edited with NIFscope, other than being deleted to copied and pasted. Until the data is better understood, this is the best solution.

If any of these fixes meet the standards of the Unofficial Patch Project Team, I have uploaded the models of these items to Mediafire and have made the necessary changes to them. While I have confirmed these changes work, it is up to the discretion of the team if they meet the standards of the project. Here is the link:

The author name I go by is Seanms1991 on here and Nexus if this is considered enough work to be added to the credits, if not then that is fine as the work on the models is very simple, more time was put into finding appropriate objects for the data transplants then anything. Still, even if these are not considered good fixes I want to add these bugs into your bug-tracker to be fixed when community tools have improved.

Regarding the Carlisle typewriter, FS#20426 has more comments about it, however one user also used the collision data of the dirty typewriter and reported that they didn't have the same size. Does your altered mesh suffer the same issue?

The typewriter mesh works fine.

The other stuff not being the correct shape isn't something we can accept for the project, so this will be closed now that the typewriter is fixed.

Those other issues can be opened on new tickets if/when someone is inclined to do so.
