Issue #20541: [BOS Quest]: BOS100 - Fire Support Bug Fix

 
In certain situation it can happen that Danse doesn't recognize that the fight is over. I just encountered the bug and the are reports in the net as well (https://steamcommunity.com/app/377160/discussions/0/496881136900941282/). This essentially breaks the whole BoS quest line. I'm not sure if this problem was present on release, I just encountered it with version 1.5.157





I checked in the CK to figure out what's wrong:





The quest BOS100Fight is stuck at Stage 99, which is set as soon as the player hits a ghoul. In the fragment script of that stage, it tries to set stage back to 20, which fails, because 99 is higher than 20 it cannot move to a lower stage. The script is not able to move on from Stage 99, though. For the same reason the boss (golden ghoul) never appears for that fight.





Solution: Manually set the stage of BOS100Fight to 100. This will conclude the quest. Don't change BOS100 itself, because then Danse still has the wrong Packages assigned and subsequent quests will break.





Permanent solution: Make sure that the stage is reset back to 20 properly.

You can circumvent the problem by NOT attacking the ghouls. Let the BoS do all the work, if I'm correct that should work (I haven't tried it but looking at the cause of the bug, I'm think this should circumvent the issue).,

Not attacking the ghouls did not fix it.

Leaving my companions behind so they did not attack the ghouls while I was not attacking the ghouls also did not fix it.

Quest is still stuck for me (xbox one).

You can set any stage on any quest in any order you like. That's not the issue here. There's something else going wrong.

Coming to this thread because my 30579 was closed and this was marked as related. I've been on the hunt for what causes this and here's some of my findings:

1. I have never had it happen if the radio signal alert comes up for the first time and it's the first time I got in proximity of the police station. If I listen to it and immediately go there to rescue them, it never bugs for me.

2. I can reproduce it most of the time by not listening to the radio when the alert comes through. Get close enough so the police station grid loads and you start hearing gunfire. Ignore and come back to the area a few weeks later in-game time and the bug happens 8 out of 10 times.

3. I do check for the already dead ghoul 108FA0 next to dead Knight Keane DB684. Both are there when the bug happens most of the time..

4. When it happens I have TCLed through the ground and surrounding buildings, no ghoul to be found.

5. KAH makes no difference, but, this may be tied to my next finding.

6. By the time I go back and this happens, I'm usually higher up on Endurance, to the point where I usually have high ranks of Ghoulish. Could Ghoulish, especially with the chance of turning a ghoul friendly be causing this which in turn causes KAH not to kill one remaining friendly ghoul?
