Issue #20546: Robot settlers delete inventory

Robot settlers created with the robot workbench have a chance to delete their own inventory--including the armor mods you have installed on them.

I have seen this complaint from a few others. For me, it happened to about half of my robot provisioners. (I have about 20). I stumbled upon them roaming the wasteland, and some of them have no armor mods on. Even when I bring them back to a settlement and craft them new armor mods, I have seen them with no armor mods on later.

One user reported that he lost his Mechanist Suit this way, because it was stored in his robot's inventory.

Here is a thread on Bethesda.net complaining of the same issue: https://community.bethesda.net/thread/9851?start=0&tstart=0

Appears that the following mod is an attempt to correct this issue.

AutomatronResetFix(WIP)

That mod will have no effect on the issue. Setting the root NPC used to spawn robots to be "Unique" isn't going to do anything.

Before I dug into things a bit, I figured "ok, maybe they're on the right track and what needs to happen is the NPC record needs to be set to not respawn". Except that NPC record is already set to not respawn.

This suggests that what's going on runs much deeper than records in the DLC master, or in any Papyrus scripting involved. It may well need to be something Bethesda fixes, but I'll leave this one open for now in case a working solution does present itself.

Arthmoor,
If it is an engine issue, would it be possible to engage one of the engine mod teams maybe buffout4, at least let them know your findings?
