Resolution: Can't Fix - Engine Issue

Issue #26199: Reviving downed companions with a stimpak in 3rd person is extremely bugged

Note: This bug was duplicated in vanilla + all DLCs.

This bug only occurs under relatively specific circumstances, but it is potentially serious. Steps to duplicate:

- Have a companion that can be revived by stimpaks when downed
- Be in 3rd person view
- Down your companion
- Apply a stimpak to your companion to revive them

A stimpak will be removed from your inventory, and your companion will react as though you revived them, but they will remain downed. You can't try to revive them again. If you point the camera at them and hit the activate key, they will react as though you're about to command them, though the UI prompt to do so does not appear. You also can't access your PipBoy.

If you're not in Survival difficulty your companion will get up after a few seconds as normal. You still won't be able to access your PipBoy, and the game will think you're stuck in some kind of permanent command mode.

If you are in Survival, the problem becomes slightly worse, because in addition to being locked out of your PipBoy, your companion won't get up on their own.

However, there is a workaround for the bug, which is to use stimpaks on yourself. In Survival, the stimpak will not be removed and your character won't heal, but the game will react as if this was the proper trigger for reviving your companion for some reason. This will resolve the bug. Outside of Survival you must instead use two stimpaks on yourself, as one will do nothing at all. You will lose the second stimpak in this case.

Sorry if this is long and difficult to follow, but the more I investigated this bug the more absurd it got.

I've had the same thing occur on Xbox One, but not every time I try to heal a downed companion while in third person view. It just pops up once in a blue moon. It's annoying. I never tried stimpacking myself to see if that fixed it.

Nothing we can do here. This all runs at engine level.
