Issue #27023: J'datharr disappears when I draw any weapon or spell
In miscellaneous quest "Find the Thalmor Assassin", after I talk to Ma'dran for help if I draw any weapon or ready any spell anywhere and anytime he immediately disappears so he can't be killed anymore. Sometimes it takes 1-2 seconds for him to disappear. Until then his behaviour is as expected (when I interrogate him he draws his weapon and tries to hit me). After he disappears, his quest marker stays at the same place where he disappeared.
I have tried to entice him to the guards without drawing any weapon or spell but the guards and all non-follower NPCs are fleeing from him instead of attacking him. It is very strange because my hero is at level 40 (which means the guards should be similar) but according to Elder Scrolls wiki J'datharr's level is limited between 5 and 15. While playing this pursuing game J'datharr sometimes flees from me for some seconds but then he starts to chase me again. If I have a follower or a horse with me and it attacks J'datharr, the latter disappears the same way as mentioned above. Elder Scrolls Wiki suggests that J'datharr's Ref ID should be FF000841 but in my game this refers to a chaurus hunter. Of course I can get J'datharr's actual Ref ID (FF0012A1) by clicking on him but recycleactor doesn't seem to be any help either before or after he disappears. The only way for me to complete the quest is using kill command on J'datharr. The only reason why I set the priority of the issue to low is that the quest itself is quite insignificant. The same effect on another quest might be taken as high priority. |
I am not able to reproduce this result at all, and in checking the entire script for the code it's using, there is nothing that even remotely supports J'datharr's disappearance being an option. He is brought into existence and the only way he's going to vanish at all is if you kill him and the body is then removed later. There are no scripts of any sort where brandishing a weapon or readying a spell could do this at all.
My guess is going to have to be that you have some sort of unknown conflict with another mod that's producing an anomalous effect which results in the NPC being turned invisible for no good reason.
