Issue #28935: "Mechanical Menace" gets stuck if conversation interrupted

In the initial quest of the Automatron quest line ("Mechanical Menace", if I remember correctly), after you defeat the hostile robots at the site of the destroyed caravan (near Wattz Electronics), you need to talk to Ada. A moderately lengthy conversation ensues. If new enemies appear during this, Ada will cut off the conversation to go fight them. But you can't re-initiate conversation with her afterwards; she doesn't say anything at all when you try. This makes it impossible for the quest line to progress.

DLC01MQ01, scene DLC01MQ01_2400_AdaIntro: switched Ada's combat behavior flag from "End" to "Pause".

The caravan ambush has been purposefully set up in a place that is far away from any random encounter spots and placed enemies, so the chance for enemies interfering (i.e. others than those belonging to this quest) is very low. Keeping in mind however, that this is a hard fight (especially when you do the quest at the minimum possible level) and you might run away to seek cover into the surroundings, there's still a chance to alert other enemies. Since all pre-placed enemies are controlled by EMSystemTurf, which forces them into a piece of furniture while they're not in combat, it usually takes a little extra time for them to react and they may come for you with some delay after you have returned to Ada. Thus, I accept this as a vanilla bug.

Thanks Sclerocephalus. I can't comment on the inner workings of the game, but I've encountered this bug enough times that the chance of interference can't be THAT low.

...the game shoves idle enemies into a piece of furniture???
