Issue #29055: Calcelmo buys enchanted dwarven weapons/armor just for the base [not enchanted] value * 2 or 2.5
It is possible to get a letter from Calcelmo if you acquired a dwarven weapon or armor. He usually wants to buy it for double its value or if you choose persuation or itimidation double + half its value.
I got a letter for "Dwarven Boots of Major Stamina" [value:432] when I sold it to him he gave me 170 gold or 213 (with persuation). I checked the value from clean "Dwarven Boots" and its 85. 85 * 2 = 170 85 * 2.5 = 212.5 So it appears to just use the value of the clean version. I discovered this because I thought you could make more money by improving the thing with smithing. If you fix this bug you ll have to decide if that should be possible or not because a clean "Dwarven Armor" [value:400] can be improved to a value of 3466 with max smithing (notched pickaxe,4*+41%,max smithing potion +174%,seeker of might) 3466 - 400 = 3066 3066 * 2.5 = 7665 for one dwarven ingot but if you can smith that high it is very easy to make money. I play with only two minor game changing mods [Pickpocket Chance 100, Acquisitive Soul Gems Multithreaded] other mods [SkyUI, Static Mesh Improvement] and with disabling it didnt change anything Bug fix mods [USSEP, Flora Respawn Fix, Better Dialogue Controls, (AchievmentsModsEnabler)] Im playing on Windows PC but I assume that bug exist on all platforms. I made a short video: https://youtu.be/bckbefKTAgw and I attached a save file. Attached Files: Save39_B750C676_0_4E79797573_MarkarthUnderStoneKeep_140208_20200511110628_115_1.ess |
I just realized that in the yt video the sell value for *2.5 is shown as 213 but you only gain 212.
The calculated value is 212.5 so in the dialogue its rounded up but what you gain is rounded down.
I think that counts as a UI bug so USSEP wont change it but I just want to mention it.

In checking the way the scripts for this quest work, the value is calculated at the time the player picks it up, and is done against the base item value.
You improving this later on to get a better price is something that really ought to have been done, but there's no real way for this to be done without some overly invasive coding in a few other places.
So unfortunately as it stands this isn't something that's really feasible to do. At least not in the USSEP.
