Issue #29206: EnchImperialSwordFrost1
EnchImperialSwordFrost1 is called 'Imperial Sword of Cold' despite every other weapon with the FrostDamage01 enchantment having the "of Chills" suffix
|
There are actually a number of inconsistencies here with the suffixes. All Draugr, one Iron, and some Steel weapons use the "of Cold" suffix as well. See below.
Interestingly, this is only a problem with the first list of Frost enchantment suffixes. The suffixes on the other Frost damage enchantments are consistent and so are all other types of damage enchantments (Fire, Shock, etc.). The developers probably made a mistake on this particular list and never corrected the inconsistency. To fix this, we'd have to choose to use either "of Cold" or "of Chills" for the entire list. The other suffixes used for frost damage are "of Frost, of Ice, of Freezing, of Blizzards, and of Winter." For comparison purposes, the first list for Fire damage uses the "of Scorching" suffix, and the first list for Shock damage uses the "of Sparks" suffix. This UESP page does a good job of listing all of the names used in the game.
The only problem with correcting issues like this is that they can be seen as subjective rather than actual bug fixes to some people. It would basically be like tossing a coin if we were to guess what the developers actually intended to do. I don't personally have any objections to choosing one and making it consistent, but I'll have to see what the other projects members think.

I think the "of Chills" suffix is more in line with the naming scheme they have for the higher level versions of this, along with the naming scheme used in the fire and shock lines.
Okay, I'll go with the "of Chills" suffix. It was what I was leaning towards assuming we were in agreement that it was something that was proper for the patch to address.
