Issue #29322: During and after the quest 'Taking independence' Radio Freedom never becomes active
After powering the Radio transmitter Radio Freedom never becomes active, the speakers are silent, it doesn't show in the pip boy and the DJ never sits down.
Disconnecting and reconnecting power does nothing. Leaving and returning via vertibird(This is survival) does nothing Sleeping and waiting does nothing I have managed to get the DJ to sit down by rewinding the quest using console commands back to needing to power the transmitter but once I power it he stands back up and the radio is never activated. I have tried using the console to assign other settlers to the transmitter but they also end up standing around, not sitting down. I used Fo4Edit to check the mods that might be editing the quest (we are the minute men) and I have deactivated it (before finishing the quest) with no change - The radio station never appears to become active Side note: For whatever reason taking independence hasn't fired for me and I have 14 settlements allied so to get to this point I triggered it using 'SetStage 0003a457 20' Attached Files: Screenshot_1351.png Screenshot_1352.png Screenshot_1353.png |
I had a strange issue like this a while back and was using a settlement mod for The Castle. Check that the Radio Transmitter, Castle Radio Tower & Chair don't say "Repair With" when in Workshop/Build Mode. If any of them do, there's no way to repair it much like the built in vendor stations at Bunker Hill, so you will need to first turn the speaker off with the switch that's next to the tower/radio man and issue these commands:
First one is Radio Transmitter, second is Tower and the third is the Chair, so whichever one is "Repair With", then execute the appropriate one, but running all of them will not hurt anything.
9FF48.setdestroyed 0
165A83.setdestroyed 0
165A94.setdestroyed 0
Then toggle the speaker back on. I think I had to either fast travel away or save and reload a save to make it work, but it was something along those lines of what I mentioned above.
There's also a couple fixes at the bottom of the WiKi page here but that didn't fix it for me if I remember correctly:

wow, forgot all about this thread.
Thanks but none of those worked when I tried them back in October, however I did figure out what caused the issue but not quite why, must've been a flag left unchecked because...
So for some reason the 'Taking independence' quest wasn't firing despite meeting the conditions so I had used one of the commands to activate it (I think it referenced it as 0003A457).
Eventually having the bug referenced in the thread I went back (losing ~20 hrs play time) and tried again this time using Min02 and it worked, thing is I had used Min02 on the first save after having completing the quest to try and see if that would check the missing flag but it didn't work.
idk if I'm dumb or it's an oversight with the scripting of flags but, yeah...don't use 0003A457
