Issue #29491: Valdr completion bug

After leaving the cave I talked to Valdr. A dragon interrupted the final conversion. I didn't want to kill the dragon just yet (nearly overencumbered) so I ran away screaming.

Later I noticed the quest wasn't marked completed and he was in "Dead Man's Drink" (Falkreath) so I went there and he was asleep in a bed. Mouseover said "talk to Valdr" but couldn't actually be interacted with and he stays asleep permanently. This leaves the quest unable to be completed.

I solved the problem by

a) Keeping Valdr in view
b) Going into console
c) Clicking on him which puts his ID in the console
d) Console command "moveto player" teleports him to me

The quest can then be completed, hth.

This issue has had a reopen request processed which was denied for the following reason:

His AI package stack does not shows this in the CK. He sleeps in the inn from 10pm to 8am, and then sandboxes inside the inn for the remainder of the day. That's it. There are no other packages in play for him at this stage. So if he's not waking up, it's not a vanilla bug.

Next time it's easier to just wait until he wakes up. Not all NPCs will wake up to talk to you.
