Resolution: Can't Fix - Sony Asset Restrictions

Issue #32390: Purity (companions questline) - Vilkas will not speak, no option relating to quest direction

 
I am playing the Purity quest, part of the companions questline.
Vilkas and I have gone to Ysgramor's tomb. It's the ffirst Puity - I haven't done it for Farkas.
I have put the witches head into the flame. The head stayed in my inventory, but that is a minor side issue.
I killed the beast spirit.
The quest says the next thing to do is:
Talk to Vilkas.
When I prod Vilkas he says one of his usual generic lines, like
"I wouldn't have expected someone like you to be the harbinger, blah blah"
And the choices I have to continue speaking with him are only:
# Can you train me to better use Two-handed weapons?
# Follow me. I need your help.
I have played this game previously without the patch and there was some quest-specific dialog. Somethinglike "I feel cleansed/awake" or maybe that was Farkas, can't remember.
If I choose 'Follow me", he says I have someone already, although I don't. He follows me though.
Now I can't continue the quest, or get him to stop following.

This isn't something that can be fixed for Playstation users. We already addressed this on PC/XB1 but the fix required editing some scripts and Sony doesn't allow those assets to be part of mods.
