Issue #32398: Fishing: Missing glowmap textures for sunfish

the Pygmy Sunfish and Cooked Pygmy Sunfish meshes (CreationClub\BGSSSE001\Critters\Fish\FishPigmySunfish\FishPigmySunfish01Inv.nif, meshes\creationclub\bgssse001\critters\fish\fishpigmysunfish\fishpigmysunfish01.nif, and TXST XX000856) are looking for the textures "textures\creationclub\bgssse001\critters\fish\fishpigmysunfish01\fsihpigmysunfish01_g.dds" and "textures\creationclub\bgssse001\critters\fish\fishpigmysunfish01\fishpigmysunfishcooked01_g.dds".

Ignoring the fact that bethesda misspelled "fish" as "fsih" in one case, no glowmap (_g) textures exist in that folder anyway.

I forgot to categorize this, it obviously should not be "Actors"

Quick rough glow map, seems to work in nifscope anyway. Use as you wish

Honestly I can't tell if adding this glow map has done anything or not. Even in the inventory model for the fish.

I’ll leave the visuals question to dinosgamez, all I know is from the code side of things the sunfish nif itself is looking for those textures and they don’t exist.
I think Dinos does have before and after screenshots showing the difference, I’ll ask him.

Here’s the before and after screenshot from dinosgamez.
Are you sure the textures are in the right folder? (And properly still named “fsih” instead of fish?)

So I'm assuming the second much darker image is the after? Is that intentional? It makes a lot of the detail indistinguishable from black.

And yes, I put the glow map in the correct place and renamed the mispelled one to match. For me it seems to make no difference, I see the fish on the left in both cases.

My knowledge on this is mostly limited to “the nif is looking for the texture but it isn’t there”, so I’ll pass this question on to dinosgamez.

Edit: is it possible to change the lighting in the nifskope preview? I think it is but I’m not able to access my pc to check. If so the second image might have been darkened to show the glow more noticeably?

Well if it was darkened to show the glow, it already has the blue glowing tips on it and Nifskope has always shown that. The game seems to agree with it too. So maybe they did it some other way than using a glow map already?

Hm that's odd it seems that depending on the version of Nifskope the glow may not consistently display properly (changing the texture its looking for seems to sometimes fix it)

It does make a difference in game and definitely seems to be what was intended (particularly as the cooked version is not set up to use the glow map) and is more accurate to how bioluminescent fish actualy look in low light.

The in game images (with and without a torch) were taken in one of the darkest corners I could find in the base game (without using lighting mods), in most lighting the detail of the fishes skin is perfectly clearly visible with the glow map
