Issue #32591: Unable to craft Nord Hero weapons at Skyforge
Copying a post I made on the Nexus Mods page.
Hey, I'm having what I can only assume is an error with the unofficial patch. I have no mods apart from Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE) and the SSE unofficial patch. I'm running the latest version of SSE, SKSE, and SSE unofficial patch. I have completed the entire companions questline, and triggered the dialogue that allows the crafting of Nord Hero weapons at the Skyforge. However, with SSE Unofficial Patch running, I am unable to craft any of the non-creation club Nord Hero weapons. This includes the sword, war axe, bow, greatsword, and battle axe. I am able to craft the mace, warhammer, dagger and arrows. When I disable SSE unofficial patch, I am able to craft all of the items again. I tested it on every save where I have completed the Companions questline and talked to Eorlund Grey-Mane to enable the crafting of the Nord Hero weapons, and as long as SSE unofficial patch is running the problem still occurs. On a side note, it isn't that big of an issue because disabling the mod, crafting the items, and re-enabling it works. Thanks to everyone responsible for the mod! I have used it for around 9-10 years now and this is the only issue I have ever personally encountered with it. |
This is the result of an undocumented change to the recipes for the Skyforge weapons. The Steel Smithing perk was added as a requirement when it clearly should not have been, but this went unnoticed until now.
Since it's fairly clear that Bethesda isn't requiring this perk to make those weapons, it's unclear why it would have been changed on our end without any sort of report about it.
One other thing Isaac, NEVER remove a mod from your existing save for ANY reason. Though it's far too late to tell you that now, that save is permanently damaged. The game is not designed to handle this and it will result in further errors coming up in the future, up to and including outright corrupting it.
