Issue #32817: Baurus does not lose essential status if The Path of Dawn is completed without his assistance

 
It is possible to complete The Path of Dawn by telling Baurus in the sewers that one is not ready, but going through either door, and attacking Raven Camoran using either a spell or an arrow through the locked gate. The NPCs will open the locked doors, and it is possible to get the Mythic Dawn Commentaries 4 without Baurus losing his essential status.

This isn't possible as Stage 79 is an unavoidable stage in the quest - the stage where Raven enters the room. This happens regardless of how things play out and it's when Baurus loses his essential status. Even if he wasn't in the room.

The quest control script also clearly shows that even if you didn't take him with you, he's transported to the cell in the "backup" position so he's going to be there no matter what.
