Issue #33476: Abandoned UC Listening Post - Unuseable Book
When entering the Abandoned UC Listening Post POI there is a book at the bottom of the first ramp as you come in. This book appears to have no activation prompt so you can't pick it up, or even move it with other objects.
There are also several other instances of books in this POI which cannot be interacted with even though at least one has a sticky note next to it on the table asking someone to read it. |
Unlike Fallout 4 for example where it was a big thing "take everything, everything is useful, it breaks down into components," Starfield has no such use for its general junk objects, so I've noticed that there's numerous objects (seemingly more than previous BGS games) that are probably meant only as "set dressing" that cannot be interacted with.
And there are a lot of books that can't be interacted with in the POIs, so given the quantity of them, and given the previous point, I have to wonder if they purposefully made "set dressing only versions" that you're not supposed to be able to interact with, but they used the same 3D models. It'd be dumb from a design point of view to do that, but I wouldn't be surprised if they needed to fill up the spaces with more clutter, but also didn't want to increase the amount of loot the player could attain, and also didn't want to invent a whole bunch more items of different types... so they just made "dummy" versions of some of the existing objects in order to fill up the clutter.
Just something to consider when looking at this, because as mentioned, there are a lot of these books out there.
(Side note, where's the sticky note on the table? I've been through this POI multiple times and I must keep missing it lol.)
