Issue #35895: Dialogue bug which causes Carrington to be unresponsive - unable to hand in quest

Boston After Dark - quest 5fd90

You are directed to give Carrington the prototype
Carrington mutters as usual but then says something along the lines of Old Man Stockton is a Paranoid Old Bat
If you respond with 'He may have good reason to be paranoid' the quest bugs out,
Carrington will not respond and player is semi frozen (best way I can describe it as you are stuck waiting for a response which will never come).
You can set stage to 100 to get the next part of the quest - which is to retrieve the dead drop - and all the stuff with H2 22 and HighRise works as it should but at the end when you have to report back to Carrington he is still bugged out and you can only complete the quest by setstage 800, after which he is immediately ok and his usual 'charming' self.

This has happened on multiple playthroughs to the point where when I was playing Fallout 4 far more than I am now I automatically ignored that dialogue choice as I knew it would bug out - all the other choices work OK. However I took a long break and forgot so got it again.
This would be on different versions as well as originally I had this bug on the steam version before 163 and now I get it on the GoG GOTY 163 version. Different computers, different graphic cards etc etc, different mods and different load orders.
You may well have fixed it on the new game version on steam I don't have that as I wanted to play FOLON so I have no way of knowing. I did search but didn't find it.

At a glance in the CK it appears as though this might be due to RRM01_0100_Start not having a neutral response block for the "Companion Interjection" in Action 11 for Phase 6 of the scene.

There appears to be nothing recorded for these but the game might very well be waiting for something to play out anyway. If this is the case I'm not sure what we'd be able to do about it if no suitable dialogue has been recorded for the various companions. Unless we can just fudge it with a Dogmeat bark or something since not every companion has a response.

Yeah I figured it would be something seemingly trivial but really annoying like that. The only person who is always going to be present in or near that scene regardless of whether a companion or not is probably going to be Deacon. who is either just present or has talked his way into being a companion just before it plays.
Back to ignoring that dialogue option I guess - shame really as its one which totally fits the conversation.
Thanks for responding
