Issue #37242: Knights - Unofficial Patch causes CTD before Bethesda logo

I DO NOT use a mod manager, I use the Data Files UI from BASE GAME Oblivion. The only way to change load order there is to add letters to the start of the .esm file, so that's what I've done; it doesn't cause any issues from what I've seen.

The data files, as they are shown in my Data Files UI, are:

DLCBattlehornCastle.esp
DLCFrostcrag.esp
DLCHorseArmor.esp
DLCMehrunesRazor.esp
DLCOrrey.esp
DLCShiveringIsles.esp
DLCSpellTomes.esp
DLCThievesDen.esp
DLCVileLair.esp
Knights.esp
Oblivion.esm
Unofficial Oblivion Patch.esp
Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch.esp
zDLCBattlehornCastle - Unofficial Patch.esp
zDLCFrostcrag - Unofficial Patch.esp
zDLCHorseArmor - Unofficial Patch.esp
zDLCMehrunesRazor - Unofficial Patch.esp
zDLCOrrey - Unofficial Patch.esp
zDLCShiveringIsles - Unofficial Patch.esp
zDLCSpellTomes - Unofficial Patch.esp
zDLCThievesDen - Unofficial Patch.esp
zDLCVileLair - Unofficial Patch.esp
zKnights - Unofficial Patch.esp

When I have Knights - Unofficial Patch active, the game crashes. When I have it turned off, it does not crash. I have even tried it so that the only patches active are Unofficial Oblivion Patch.esp, Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch.esp, and the Knights Unofficial patch, and it will still crash until the Knights patch is disabled.

If there is a specific mod manager I am supposed to use in order for a mod to work, I would request that it state so on the mod page.

Just for the information of any bug troubleshooter to come: I switched to Vortex mod manager and stopped having the CTD issue. I believe that there is some tomfoolery happening that makes it so that the vanilla Data Files loader doesn't work with the patch properly. Regardless, I thought I should mention it.

That's obviously not a supported method for using these files and the resulting load order is invalid. It's also the reason you ended up with CTDs. Renaming the files is never something we'll consider valid either.

Vortex "fixed" it because it sets things in the proper order for you.
